Do it once and share it many times” Data Sharing Working Group Annual Report 2024-25

AI can do a pretty good job of summarising for us, but it can’t coordinate us and it can’t cajole us into meetings to find areas of common ground so that we can progress together. We need to do that – and we’re doing that in the Data Sharing Working Group.

In the Data Sharing Working Group, we are currently thinking about data as the essential ingredient for AI. It’s taking us back to the foundations for sharing data – what needs to be in place for AI to access data in the right way? In a nutshell, it’s Data Sharing Infrastructure. The infrastructure we need to share data in a safe, secure and seamless way. We’ve been talking about Data Sharing Infrastructure in the Data Sharing Working Group over the past three years and we published a report on it last year: Cross-Sector UK Data Sharing Infrastructure – Digital Twin Hub.

Our annual report summarises progress over the last year where we have progressed our thinking on Data Sharing Infrastructure.

We are a voluntary group of people working in data across industry, academia and government and as a group we have the motto, “Do it once and share it many times”.
