DNV will join our lead partner SGN and project partner AWS and present our “Green Hydrogen Digital Twin” project at the Ofgem SIF “show and tell” for Data/Digitalisation – Digital Twins on Friday May 20th.
Looking forward to seeing many of you there! -

MemberNovember 26, 2021 at 1:10 pm in reply to: Digital Twin Roadblocks – Jam 3 – Problem Prototyping, Ideas Please! In response to the original question: for us at DNV, we see an almost basic need to align digital twin “art of the possibles” to customer organisational and corporate strategic goals. For example, if one of the strategic goals of an asset-owning organisation is to improve safety; or to reduce operating cost; or to extend operating life; then a narrative needs to be created linking these goals to an overarching digital twin “benefits story”, speaking the language of the client organisation.
Even with correctly-specified digital twins, problems can arise in operation, as physical assets – particularly mechanical, or engineering assets – will potentially undergo many changes during their lifecycles. For many companies, there’s a need to trust that a digital twin will remain fit-for-purpose long after being commercially approved and deployed on “day one”. We see this as a key challenge – and understanding how the trust element can be embedded into the company decision-making culture is key against a backdrop of expensive – and in some cases, failed – “IT” projects.

MemberAugust 3, 2021 at 10:50 am in reply to: Qualification and assurance of Digital TwinsThank you CDBB team for the opportunity to present at today’s Gemini Call.
I referenced that our Recommended Practice (RP) makes use of derivative RPs such as Data Quality – here’s a visual that shows the whole RP framework.
I’ve also posted a link to the Data Quality RP in the Data Value and Quality section on DT Hub.
Kind regards,

Who are you? Â Heading up the Growth and Innovation team for DNV in the UK & Ireland. Have a specific focus on growing our digital twin advisory and assurance services in the region, working with customers on early-stage DT concepts and projects using the methodology that we’ve built into a recommended practice (aka whitepaper).
What is your industry and profession? We are an independent third-party provider of advisory and assurance services with a specific focus on Energy Systems. We work with the oil, gas, power and renewable sectors in order to assist our customers in accelerating the energy transition.Â
Where do you plan to use your new Digital Twin Knowledge? Personally/professionally?  At DNV, we are currently supporting organizations that are developing digital twins in addition to conducting independent assessments of the digital twins provided by suppliers. Our aim is to help companies trust that the outputs of digital twin components (data, data quality, sensor systems, algorithms etc) meet real world challenges, provide ROI and embed a culture that treats a digital twin as a real asset.
Why have you decided to join the DTHub? Â This is a great platform for sharing, connecting, and collaborating. Â Â
Have you participated in any of our meetups, or events? Â I’ve joined a couple of Gemini calls.
Do you have any examples of work that you have done using Digital Twins? Â Yes – our new recommended practice has been tested in several pilot studies and is currently being applied by companies like Equinor and Cognite. We’re in the process of compiling some case studies for DT Hub, which we’ll share soon!
