My BMW X5 needs a new battery – do I really need to register it?
I own a 2014 BMW X5 and the battery is definitely on its last legs. Slow cranking, interior lights dim, the whole thing. I know on modern BMWs you’re supposed to “register” the new battery so the car knows it’s new and adjusts the charging rate. But some shops tell me it’s not necessary and others say the battery will die in six months if I don’t. I live in Jumeirah and I’m looking for a 70AH Battery Replacement in Jumeirah Dubai from someone who actually understands European cars. I found Amaron’s battery page and they mention compatibility. Has anyone here replaced the battery on an F15 X5 without doing the registration? How long did it last? Also does anyone know a shop in Jumeirah or nearby that has the proper scanner to do the registration without charging a fortune? The dealer wants 1200 dirhams just for the battery plus registration which seems crazy. I’d rather buy the battery myself and pay someone with a laptop to do the coding. Any recommendations would be amazing. Thanks.
