    thanks Aurelien.

really interesting. Can you identify things such as power lines and rail tracks?

    Good work.

It’s interesting to see the use of the existing infrastructure assessment methodologies (from the Royal Engineers), great to see a study not re-inventing the wheel!

I will read more in-depth as time appears in my diary. thanks for sharing.

    Roadblock #2

The information itself. that contained in product data templates is only valuable to the manufacturers that populate it, COBie has little or no value to the actual maintainer (detach yourself from the mantra and actually ask a spanner wielder rather than a manager or academic) – Information costs to gather, manage and disseminate, so to make this worthwhile each piece needs to be valuable to someone. This definitive data dictionary that defines what is valuable to the end users throughout the lifecycle does not exist. This needs to be rectified!! (otherwise everything else is pointless!)

    Roadblock #1

    1. the value proposition. We still cannot (collectively) articulate the cold hard cash value proposition to business leaders, in their language. if we had, the take up would be universal. Too much academia and not enough business talk.

  • All the materials and course slides/ notes for the Digital Advancement Academy and the Crossrail Information Management Academy are at your disposal if you want.

just to add, they aren’t online and have always been a constantly changing and updating set of advice to people and organisations.

  • a great document. The key thing is that it is a simple and clear set of principles. Not hidden in academic or standards langauge.

It has always been about the value proposition – if we don’t help the client understand this and articulate it, then they will not buy into Digital Twin thinking at the level at which is most important.

I think more of the CDBB methods, process and documents needs to reference back to this document and the Gemini principles.

I’m presuming (always dangerous!) that red is a no and green a yes?

If that is the case then i’m really not happy with the top two about People Evacuation and Tidal Systems.

I think we can agree that a DT needs value and a purpose? If that is the case, what if the creator of these DT’s needs to answer that specific question about the evacuation routes and that they are fit for purpose? This would seem to have both purpose and value….. or am i missing something?

  • A really interesting topic from Costain. much needed Biodiversity and Natural Capital modelling. See you there with an organic G&T.

  • thank you Stuart, an important topic as we look at modelling the natural environment to create the all important digital twin for society. I have a great organic Gin and Tonic to drink whilst listening to this. See you there.

    Network of Twins…

A potential case study is already out there, where the UK’s Royal Engineers conduct cross sector analysis of infrastructure primarily to understand criticality and vulnerability for disaster protection and relief, but this also create the basic framework that a network of twins could be hung from. Its been used in real situations in places like Nepal after the Earthquake and The British Virgin Islands after the Hurricane. In my part time role as a reservist i am involved in this and can assist if it is of interest?
