The touchscreen in my Dodge is delaminating and peeling away from the edges
I’m honestly so frustrated right now and I need to know if I’m alone in this or if this is a common problem. I have a 2016 Dodge Durango, and the touchscreen on the radio has started to peel. I don’t know how else to describe it. It looks like the outer layer of the screen is separating from the glass underneath, starting from the edges and slowly working its way inward. There are air bubbles and the screen is starting to become less responsive to touch, especially near the edges where the peeling is worst. Sometimes I have to press something three or four times before it registers Check out this page now. I asked a friend who works at a dealership, and he said this is a known issue with some Chrysler, Dodge, and Jeep products from certain years. He said the adhesive that holds the screen layers together breaks down over time, especially in hot climates. His advice was to replace the whole radio unit, which he said would cost around 3,000 or 4,000 dirhams. That seems like a lot for a screen problem. I’ve been looking online to see if there’s a cheaper fix, like replacing just the glass layer or using some kind of adhesive to stick it back down. I found some videos of people attempting repairs, but they looked pretty involved and I’m not confident I could do it without breaking something. For other Dodge owners who have had this delamination issue did you replace the whole unit, or did you find a way to repair it? And if you replaced it, did you go with a factory unit or an aftermarket one? I’d love to keep the car looking original if possible, but I also don’t want to spend a fortune on something that might just fail again in a few years.
