Minutes from Meeting with WSAA (Australia) 15/12/20
WSAA have investigated compatibility between VBIS and Uniclass and found that they are complimentary of each other.
WSAA (VBIS) gave an overview of the system. VBIS is a standard for asset classification and information systems. Started looking at the role of asset management and operation. Problem was the difficulty in getting information out of disparate systems. Victoria Government provided 2 years funding. Consortium of A.G.Coombs (experts in asset management and projects) and BIM-MEP Aus. State Government looked at all the capital work coming up over the coming years and attempted to come up with an overarching digital approach, this included the use of VBIS. Victorian Digital Asset Strategy and Queensland Government Data and Information Guideline both require VBIS on future projects. In the US teamed up with Brick who have now teamed up with Google.

Looking to support software vendors with the Vbis for integration. The search syntax needs mapped but only once.
Owner operator would need to map to Vbis but if already mapped to Uniclass this should be easier.
David shared the slide pack from our last core group meeting which is above in a previous post from David.
Martin Hunt (NBS) has agreement that he will issue the updates to Uniclass to Australian companies for a final review by the end of the year.
Each country to discuss what came up and arrange a future meeting to cover findings.
