Reference Architecture
The digital twin reference architecture below provides a diagram based view of the functions and technologies required to advance data through the information value chain to deliver valuable outcomes to society.
The reference architecture aims to support standardisation of digital twin implementation, by providing a unified approach to the data-value journey. Based upon the proposed architecture, data is collected, transmitted, aggregated, modelled, simulated, analysed, and visualised to inform decisions and provide a diverse array of services and applications. While all layers of the architecture allow the flow of data between them, the architecture enables independent layer implementation, promotes modularity, and facilitates service delivery across layers, simplifying data flow and ensuring traceability.
The reference architecture enables the mapping of the existing digital twin market supply chain, encompassing service and/or technology providers and developers. This fosters collaboration by easing communication with organizations specializing in specific layers, functions, technologies, or enablers, and facilitates the identification of any existing gaps or monopolies within certain areas of the architecture.
