I am considering starting a network for topics related to Lifecycle V&V (Validation and Verification) centred on Evaluation and Testing, and this message is to poll the level of potential interest.

I imagine the network would offer the following:

·        A place for Test Engineers from different market sectors to share experiences and gain knowledge

·        Support for those areas where DT activity is low but growing, the Defence Sector is an example, to benefit from the experiences of other sectors

Test Engineers have a mix of technical and customer skills that are central to successful project implementation. The DT concept provides a lifecycle project-thread that provides Test Engineers with an unprecedented opportunity to exercise their skills. Maybe finding a way to maximise this opportunity might also attract more people to the career, and be a way to improve recruitment into the world of Engineering?

If we launch this Network, would you consider joining it?

Dave has presented at today's Gemini call his idea of setting up a new network on 'Lifecycle V&V (Validation and Verification)' centred on Evaluation and Testing. Please find attached a few slides that will provide you with more details on the purpose and the objectives of this new network. For more details please get in touch directly with  @Dave Murray

Thanks for posting the slides Alexandra and apologies again to all for the internet bandwidth problem that I experienced during the call today.

The Defence Sector is actively looking at ways to use DTs. It is coming to this from a strong background in Modelling and Simulation. There is opportunity for useful 2-way transfer of information and knowledge-sharing that would be beneficial to all participants. My suggestion is that a Lifecycle V&V network would be a good way to facilitate that, but all suggestions welcomed!

Following several conversations, I was persuaded that this approach was too narrow. The original topic could be included in a wider objective to look at the rapidly emerging ‘new-look’ of defence, its Digital Backbone and its nascent DT journey. See the new network “The Defence Digital Network” for the outcome!
