SUMMARY:CReDo Ofwat Catalyst Showcase - Online
DESCRIPTION:CReDo update \nIn 2022\, temperatures in the UK surpassed 40oC for the first time in recorded history. The overall additional cost to Anglian Water customers from the impact of this extreme heat event was valued at £2.9m\, which includes additional energy costs associated with keeping assets cool enough to operate. Extreme heat is happening now\, and it is even more likely to occur in the future. The water sector is only just beginning to understand the effect of these extreme heat events on asset failure. \nJoin us online on Tuesday 16 July 10:30-12:00\, for the CReDo Ofwat Catalyst Showcase\, to find out how Anglian Water have worked alongside CReDo (Climate Resilience Demonstrator) and its partners to address this problem and improve the water sector’s understanding of the impact of extreme heat on assets. \nFollowing on from the CReDo proof-of-concept phase\, which showed how it is possible to share data across water\, telecoms and energy networks to increase resilience across the infrastructure system\, CReDo Ofwat Catalyst has focused at looking at the impact of extreme heat on water assets\, how failure will occur and the likelihood of failure. \nWe’ll share how CReDo Ofwat Catalyst has overcome the challenge of a lack of historical asset failure data for extreme heat scenarios through the process of expert elicitation; a process which involves extracting the knowledge from expert engineers and digitising that knowledge into a format usable by the CReDo digital twin and web application. Discover more about how valuable insights into the probability and characteristics of future heat events have also been developed. See a demonstration of how this data has been combined and presented through a graphical interface made accessible via a secure web app. Finally\, learn more about how this data can be leveraged using the CReDo digital twin platform to better understand the potential impacts of cascade failures across utilities and what further opportunities exist for future collaboration. \nRegister here \nVisit our CReDo pages \n  \nPhoto by Ivan Bandura on Unsplash

SUMMARY:Defining the Digital Twin: Construction's powerful and misunderstood technology
DESCRIPTION:The phrase Digital Twin has exploded in popularity across the architecture\, engineering and construction sectors in recent years – but ask around and it’s clear there remains a lot of confusion about what a Digital Twin actually is and what they have to offer.\n\nBehind the buzz\, digital twins are integral to the decarbonisation of our buildings. Using real-time data with simulation\, machine learning and artificial intelligence\, a true Digital Twin is indispensable in its ability to mirror the real-life performance of any building\, enabling designers\, operators and owners to optimise energy performance.\n\nHowever\, often used interchangeably with other terms like building information modelling (BIM)\, miscommunication threatens to devalue the real benefits of this technology. Furthermore\, investing in solutions without a clearly defined use case or understanding of how solutions align to business needs\, can further result in disillusionment and unmet client expectations.\n\nIn this special live discussion presented by The B1M in partnership with IES\, you’ll hear experts from across the sector tackle the important question of what constitutes a Digital Twin\, and\, fundamentally\, what does not. We’ll also dive into the incredible potential of this technology with some real-world examples of its impact to date\, before inviting open questions from the audience.\n\nThe event will be hosted by The B1M’s Fred Mills and the expert panel will include:\nRichard Fletcher – Executive Board Director\, IES\nEmma Hooper – Head of Information Management Strategy\, RLB Digital\nDan Rossiter FCIAT – Built Environment Sector Lead\, BSI\n\nTickets are limited so register NOW to avoid disappointment.

SUMMARY:Digital Twin 2024
DESCRIPTION:CALL FOR PAPERS \nThe 2024 IEEE International Conference on Digital Twin (DigitalTwin 2024)\nDenarau Island\, Fiji\, December 2-7\, 2024\nhttps://www.ieee-smart-world.org/2024/digitaltwin/ \nDigital twin\, as a recent iconic phrases of fashions\, has been coined and broadened somewhat in that it is now being extensively applied\, or rather used\, to characterize a variety of digital simulation models that run alongside real-time processes that pertain to social and economic systems as well as physical systems since its inception. It is even conceivable that latency between when data is received from the basic system and when the users closest to the system can use is often short enough to enable good corrective actions. Progress towards digital twins will surely enable us to gain ever deeper insights into the nature of reality and its virtual form. How close we can get to the real thing is a collective exploration we are about to embark upon as a society. \nThe 2024 IEEE International Conference on Digital Twin will provide a high-profile\, leading-edge forum for researchers\, engineers\, and practitioners to present state-of-art advances and innovations on Digital Twin\, as well as to identify emerging research topics and define the future of Digital Twin. DESCRIPTION:From the Digital Twin Hub in partnership with Cranfield University. \nStarts on Thursday 23 January 2025 and runs for 8 weeks every Thursday \nThe course runs across 8 weeks with 16 hours of active learning (remote lectures delivered in real time and recorded for catch-up)\, and a strategic discussion forum with the cohort. Sessions are online\, lasting one-and-a-half hours\, once a week. \nDigital Twins for Senior Leaders is part of a suite of learning opportunities to give individuals and organisations the knowledge and confidence to introduce digital twins. \nIt is unique in being founded on the Gemini Principles\, scoped alongside asset owners and operations and delivered by the DT Hub and Cranfield in association with policy makers\, industry associations\, academic experts and practitioners. \nIt is designed for leaders engaged in roles that will influence decision-making to realise digital transformation and organisational change. They will be the enablers and subsequent end-users of digital twin systems\, or the translators of digital twin capabilities\, rather than those creating the digital twins. \nThis industry training is relevant to innovators working in asset owner and operator organisations as well as suppliers and consultants\, and suits company or sector-specific cohorts and/or individuals. You can also enquire about custom programmes for organisations. \nRegister for the course
